Meta Tags

HTML elements that provide metadata about a web page to search engines and browsers.

Meta tags are snippets of HTML code that describe a page's content. They don't appear on the page itself but in the page's source code. Search engines read meta tags to understand what the page is about.

The most important meta tags for SEO include:

  • Title Tag: The title that appears in search results and browser tabs
  • Meta Description: A summary of the page content shown in search results
  • Robots Meta Tag: Instructions for search engine crawlers
  • Canonical Tag: Specifies the preferred URL for duplicate content
  • Open Graph Tags: Controls how content appears when shared on social media

Using meta tags correctly helps search engines index your pages properly and can improve click-through rates from search results.
